Driving to Required Away Clerkships
- Following a rotation, students receive an email reminder to request travel reimbursement if they have driven to a clerkship site.
- Requests must be submitted by replying to the reminder email.
- Requests submitted more than 14 days after the completion of a clerkship will not be processed.
- Travel reimbursement checks will be mailed to the address the students provide in response to the reminder email.
- Students can expect to receive travel reimbursement checks 3-4 weeks after signed reimbursement documents are returned to the travel desk.
Cars available at clerkship site
Very few sites provide cars for student use. You should expect to provide your own
transportation. Except for at a few remote required clerkship sites in Alaska, the School
will not reimburse you for a rental car for travel to/between clerkship sites, nor will a rental
car be provided while at the site. There will be no reimbursement for rental cars if you fly to
a site that does not have a vehicle on site for use.
Contact Academic Affairs to learn the current policy regarding remote Alaska required clerkship sites.
Lodging During Required Away Clerkship Travel
One night's lodging up to $80.00 (including taxes) is reimbursable for travel to/between
clerkship sites more than 650 miles apart, or during inclement weather. Students are
responsible for any other overnight travel accommodations and food expenses.
Students must mail their lodging receipts to the following address:
