Student Housing for WWAMI Track Students at Required Clerkships in SeattleEffective January 1, 2012, Track students who are scheduled into Seattle for a required clerkship are able to stay in housing paid for by the School of Medicine. Students must contact their local Regional WWAMI Clinical Office at least a month before a scheduled required clerkship in Seattle. Regional WWAMI Clinical Offices will make the reservations for students and arrange payment. The lodging provided by the School of Medicine is: Students are not to make their own lodging reservations for Seattle required clerkships. The lodging arranged by Academic Affairs is not suitable for families. The hotel claims that it is "pet friendly" but the UW will not pay for the pet accommodation deposit, nor will the UW pay for any damages to the room caused by a student's pet. Bringing a pet is strongly discouraged. Parking is available and free of charge in the event students drive from their Track site to Seattle. UWMC is located approximately 8 miles from the hotel, or about 12 minutes via I-5, depending on traffic. Bus Route Information There are a number of Metro bus stops within three blocks of the hotel and a variety of routes serving the neighborhood. The best route to downtown Seattle is Route 358. If you get off at the 3rd Ave and Pike Street stop, you can transfer to Routes 3 or 4 which take you directly to Harborview Medical Center. From Route 358, you can also transfer at the Aurora Ave North & North 46th Street stop to an eastbound Route 44, which will take you directly to UWMC, dropping you in front of UWMC on Pacific. From downtown, you can find a route to anywhere within the greater Seattle area. Additional information on bus routes can be found at the Metro website. |
