The “serenity” garden will be multi functionsal, to create a gateway into the community, provide a setting for a historic building which will function as a vistors center and provide the community with a contemplative place to relax and learn. The reflective of historic and vernacular gardens of the period this garden will also explore issues of sustainability and community expression. Design or construction experience is not required all participants will partake in the design, community and building processes. This will complemented with field trips to natural and cultural places in and around the city of New Orleans.
