Social With Sam
With Spring term currently starting up we wanted to review the events of the Winter Term and prepare everyone for what to expect in the Spring.
On the social side of things GPSS help their winter term social week seven in the HUB Game Room. There students dined on the finest pizzas and drink cold beer, wine and sodas.
Just before the rush of finals week and the end of the term GPSS holds a social event for all graduate students to attend, free of charge with your Husky ID. These social events are a way to network with graduate students across the campus and take a quick moment for yourself to relax, something graduate students are not always the best. Look for future announcements about our Spring social event happening later in Spring Term.
Onto colder things, this year GPSS formed a team of students to attend the polar plunge. This brave and daring students jumped in the cold cold puget sound to raise money for the special olympics. After a quick dive in the water, the brave plungers as they are called, were greeted with warm blankets, warm heat lights, and warm drinks to celebrate their successful swim.
Lastly, GPSS once again took over the capital with the annual Husky’s on the Hill. This event gives graduate students a chance to speak with their elected representatives in Olympia and campaign for the needs of students. Every year the Vice President of External Affairs develops a set of agenda items and goals of the event along with key talking points and guidance for first time lobbyists.
Many students appreciate the chance to speak directly with their representatives who in turn appreciate the honest feedback from a large constituent base. This event happens every year, so look for Husky on the Hill announcements next year if you wish to join and get your voice heard.
