{"id":35,"date":"2016-03-23T22:29:07","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T22:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/gridlab1\/?page_id=35"},"modified":"2016-10-21T19:18:13","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T19:18:13","slug":"fun","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/gridlab1\/fun\/","title":{"rendered":"Education and Outreach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to research, many members of the GRIDlab are actively involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and outreach!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/gridlab1\/team-member\/kaitlyn-casimo-bs\/\">Kaitlyn<\/a> is highly active in science outreach and education. On campus, she is the special events coordinator for the <a href=\"http:\/\/students.washington.edu\/nbout\/about\/nboutreach.html\">Neuroscience Community Outreach Group<\/a>, the outreach organization of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience. She is also a Science Communication Fellow at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificsciencecenter.org\/\">Pacific Science Center<\/a>, where she participates in museum events like Meet a Scientist weekends and special lectures including Science Cafe and Science in the City. In summer of 2016, she developed and coordinated guest lectures for a high school level Neural Engineering course for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/omad\/upward-bound\/\">UW STEM Upward Bound<\/a> program.
