About the GTTL Studies ProgramProgram Overview Based at the University of Washington in Seattle, the GTTL Studies Program operates in a dynamic region that is vitally important to global commerce. In Washington State 1 in 3 jobs is dependent on international trade and the Seattle-Tacoma port region is the 3rd largest shipping hub in North America, smaller than only New York and Los Angeles. This learning environment exposes students to global trade, transportation, and logistics firsthand and connects students with many prominent professional and organizations in the field. GTTL Studies' interdisciplinary courses engage students on a wide range of transportation issues, including multi-modal air, land, and maritime connections; environmental and energy concerns; telecommunications advancements; the impact of international health and ecological issues; and the legal, regulatory, and technological infrastructures that facilitate global commerce and transportation. Particular attention is directed to activities involved in the flow of goods from point of origin to point of consumption on a global scale. The program is overseen by the UW's Interdisciplinary Committee on Global Trade, Transportation, and Logistics. Comprised of members from the academic, private, and public sectors, this committee ensures that the certificate program is responsive to the current needs of government and industry. GTTL Studies collaborates with local, federal, and international business and government organizations in offering internships and careers to enrolled students. This collaboration provides a number of scholarship opportunities for graduate students as well.
