The University of Washington is recognized nationwide for its strength in diagnosing and treating prostate cancer. Our Genitourinary Oncology Clinical Research Group comprises some 10 board-certified physicians -- including specialists in radiation oncology, medical oncology, urology, pathology, and radiology, -- who work together to provide optimal care for patients with prostate cancer, as well as those with cancer of the testis, bladder, kidney, and related organs.

Our comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating prostate cancer begins with a thorough evaluation to detect the disease in its earliest stages, which is particularly appropriate for men who are concerned about their risk of prostate cancer, as well as for those who may be at higher risk for prostate cancer due to changes in serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, a family history of prostate cancer, or biopsy results that point to a premalignant prostate condition.

There are options at each point in a man's illness. At the UW, we weigh the risk of the cancer relative to the potential side effects and the efficacy of all the available treatment options. Our physicians offer multiple treatment choices throughout the different points of the disease.
