General Information

Course Description: Surveys the peoples, places and events of the ancient Near East, focusing on the time period from ca. 3,000 to 330 BCE. Examines primarily the cultures of Mesopotamia and Egypt, and secondarily those of Anatolia and the Levant. Pays special attention to shared cultural elements as well as distinguishing characteristics of the peoples of these regions.
