40 Hours Per Week – Contract Position

The Foundation Communications department of this nonprofit organization collaborates across their grant making programs and Operations teams to coordinate and generate both external and internal communications that are critical to advancing their objectives and promoting a consistent “shared identity” for the entire organization.

The Visual Communications team sits within Foundation Communications and is responsible for the visual identity of the foundation. Using photography, videography and design, this team creates or contributes to a wide variety of communications tools: field photography, brochures, fact sheets, web content, annual reports, packaged video programming, b-roll segments, multimedia stories and foundation-branded print collateral.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
This role will manage a high volume of diverse photography assets and services across the foundation in an often fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities. The Ideal candidate will be able to skillfully manage projects, photo edit and be responsible for ingesting images into the asset management system, while working under the creative direction of the Senior Photo Editor.

Being part of a small, in-house creative team requires the flexibility to wear multiple hats and the necessity to keep tight schedules.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Hands-on editing and production

Edit in a photojournalist style with a heavy focus on storytelling

Edit all photos in the foundation’s archives

Collaborate with staff and vendors on all foundation projects requiring photography

Edit, color correct and convert new digital files sent from Photographer in the field or on location

Archive and organize materials into asset management system

Respond to, or oversee fulfillment of a stream of daily photo requests from foundation staff, Reporters and Consultants

Typical work week: 25% – communication (emails and image fulfillment), 50% – editing, 25% – asset management (library / filing digital and video images, etc)
