*Student Photographer Intern*
Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Dean’s Office
Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) seeks a student to photograph the
many and varied events, activities, and communities of UAA programs.
Responsibilities include coordinating photo shoots, directing subjects,
archiving photos, developing positive working relationships with UAA
staff, presenting ideas for images, and (of course) lots and lots of
photographing in a photojournalism style that conveys the appropriate
message.
Reports to the Public Information Specialist.
Successful intern will:
* Have a great, creative eye for photojournalism and a portfolio to
back it up (or the beginnings of one);
* Take initiative and be proactive about setting up photo shoots;
* Communicate well;
* Be flexible and organized;
* Have an innate ability to follow through;
* Be a member of a team;
* Understand how photos will be used and take and organize images
with a user mindset.
With this internship, you have the opportunity to build your
photojournalism portfolio, gain experience in a professional
environment, improve your photography, work in a supportive environment,
get your work published in department publications, and begin to build a
professional network.
Photos will be digital. UAA has a digital camera, but intern may choose
to use own.
7-10 hours per week; hours vary due to nature of work. Some evenings
and weekends required, including Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Two quarter minimum commitment. Unpaid, but possible to earn credit.

Student Writer Intern*

Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) seeks a student to write about the
many and varied events, activities, and communities of UAA programs.
Responsibilities include writing press releases, web-based content, and
content for other UAA publications.
Reports to the Public Information Specialist.
Successful intern will:
* Have strong writing skills;
* Be open to re-writes and editing;
* Be able to meet deadlines;
* Take initiative and be proactive about setting up interviews;
* Communicate well;
* Be flexible and organized;
* Have an innate ability to follow through;
* Be a member of a team;
* Understand how the articles and features will be used and take and
organize images with a user mindset.
With this internship, you have the opportunity to build your writing
portfolio, gain experience in a professional environment, improve your
writing, work in a supportive environment, get your work published in
department publications, and begin to build a professional network. This
is a great opportunity for students interested in public relations.
