PSSIGCHI – Songsmith Tonight!

Join us for the first PS SIGCHI meeting of the fall session… this one should be FUN!

Dan Morris will show us Songsmith, a very cool piece of software to add chords to the tunes you generate in the studio or shower. It’s fun and creates a radical redefinition of the user experience in songwriting… opening the door to richer experiences for people who love music without formal training. As always, refreshments will be provided. Feel free to forward the invite to your UX/CX (or other) friends who hum at their desks or sing in their car, or just like to see cool new ideas that work. UW Vision+Cognition Group is looking for VIDEO GAME PLAYERS!

The UW Vision+Cognition Group is looking for video game players to participate in a research study on visual attention.

The UW Vision+Cognition Group is starting a new project on the effects of video games on visual attention. The study is 3 hours over 3 sessions on separate days. This project is still in piloting, so to work out the kinks we’re looking for enthusiastic participants who fit the following criteria:

1) “Hardcore” video game players who play video games (i.e = first-person shooters, RTS games) regularly over the past 6 months or more (please state your experience)

2) Non-video game players who have not played video games in the past 6 months

Participants are compensated $10/hour for their participation, for a total of $30 over the 3 sessions. Please reply if you are interested in participating in this study and tell your friends they are eligible as well. Participants will be doing tasks on a regular computer such as tracking an object around the screen, and will have their “attentional space” mapped to determine the range of their visual attention.

Please contact Jeffrey Lin at:
