WORK-STUDY ASSISTANT POSITION
DEPARTMENT OF EPIDEMIOLOGY
Must have work-study award from Student Financial Aid.
Time Period: Autumn 2009-Spring 2010. Possible continuation in Summer
2009 if student is awarded summer work-study and has performed well.
Hours negotiable between M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At least 3 days/week preferred. (Evening/weekend hours not available.)
Wage: $11.00/hour.
Job Description: Assist Epidemiology Administrative and Program Offices with clerical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities (May vary, but will include some of following):
Student-Related Tasks
o Assist with a few department social events.
Clerical Support
o Distribute mail in Administrative Coordinator’s absence.
o Create and check applicant & student files.
o Scan applications correctly and clearly.
o Prepare and collate Admissions Committee materials accurately.
o Scan applicant files into pdfs with training o Copy applicant pdf files in specified order to 8 memory sticks for each of 3 admission meetings.
o Track, submit and pickup jobs at copy centers; run other errands.
o Sort and distribute class lists and budget reports to faculty/staff.
o Prepare mailing labels and a variety of on-campus and off-campus mailings.
o File documents accurately using complex filing system.
o Update email lists.
o Other duties as assigned: Responsibilities may change and/or increase over time.
Qualifications:
o Must have work-study award from Student Financial Aid o Detail-orientation o Moderate proficiency with MS Word (MS Excel preferred as well) o Ability to do some walking and some moderate lifting o Knowledge of Pine a plus o Ability to come to work at 7 am or work past 5 pm a few days/year for special events a plus.
