LUTE needs your help! IMPORTANT!!!

Hey everyone, sorry to be so dramatic, but this is important.

The department has a proposal in to get some funds for LUTE (Laboratory for Usability Testing and Evaluation) from the Student Technology Fee. This year, we are making some big upgrades to the video console (we want to trash it and put in an end-to-end digital video solution), the eye-tracker, usability software and mobile testing stations, and the Vimeo white board capture kits.

There’s only one catch, we need student endorsements for the proposal in order to get it approved. We’re not asking for much, just a paragraph or so explaining how you used the lab and how it would have been a better experience with the cool new stuff we want. The money is there, we just need to persuade the committee to hand it over to us.

If you could, please take a look at the proposal at:

http://techfee.washington.edu/proposals/view/2010-068-1/

Then, scroll to the bottom and click the “Add Comment” link to give your two cents. All of the upgrades we want to do will make the lab more useful, and you will have the opportunity to get some hands-on experience on some industry-standard tools and software applications.

Thanks for your help,

Eric Nordlund

You may have heard of Yelp.com online, a popular restaurant and business review service based on user-driven reviews.  The aim of our research is to examine how users use the Yelp Mobile application, and more importantly, what can be done to improve this application.
