HCDE students are highly encouraged to assemble a team and enter this year’s challenge! There is $25000 in cash prizes to fund prototypes of the winning teams!
Who hasn’t seen the headlines? Worldwide competition for energy and water. A dramatically changing global climate. A 10-year goal to make the United States a leader in innovative technologies and cleantech ventures.
At the University of Washington we have a challenge for you. If you’ve got a passion for cleantech, the smarts to play in the emerging “green economy,” and the desire to make an impact, the UW Environmental Innovation Challenge can provide just the platform you’ve been looking for. And a chance to win $10,000. The 2011 UW Environmental Challenge is on March 31.
In the UW Challenge, interdisciplinary student teams define a cleantech problem, design and develop the solution, and produce both a prototype (proof of concept/computer simulation) and a business summary that demonstrates the market opportunity. Teams are judged—by Seattle area industry experts, entrepreneurs, and cleantech investors—on their prototypes, their pitches and business summaries, and the potential impact of their innovations. Can your idea reduce environmental impacts, improve ecological sustainability, conserve resources, and compete in the marketplace? Prove it at the UW Challenge.
