Jake Knapp presents “Gmail Priority Inbox: Behind the scenes”
The user interface for Priority Inbox isn’t complicated, but user experience designers and researchers played a major – and sometimes unusual – role in its development.
Google designer Jake Knapp will tell the behind the scenes story from the beginnings as one engineer’s 20% project through public launch. He’ll show videos used to pitch the concept inside Google, talk about Thanksgiving in Switzerland, and describe how he put 200 Googlers through a month of hell.
Come early (6:30-7) to grab a bite to eat and visit with your colleagues.

Bio:
Jake Knapp has been at Google for 3+ years as an interaction designer and more recently UX manager. He’s worked in the Seattle, Kirkland, and Zurich, Switzerland offices on projects such as Gmail, Google Talk and Google Voice. Before coming to Google, Jake grew up on Orcas Island, Washington, went to the UW, and worked at Oakley and Microsoft. He is currently among the world’s tallest interaction designers.
