Beyond Boxes and Arrows: The Role of Ethics in User Experience
by Ario Jafarzadeh, Lead Designer & Product Manager, Amazon
Thursday, Jan. 23, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
What do infinite scroll, push notifications, and ore mining all have in common? Come find out in this talk by Ario Jafarzadeh, a designer at Amazon, who will talk about the role of ethics in user experience design. We know everyone’s distracted by their phones and that social connections are getting weaker… this talk proposes some ways forward. The digital genie isn’t going back in the bottle, and it’s our duty as mindful UX practitioners to get the genie to do our bidding and not the other way around. Ario will illustrate this with examples of bad patterns to avoid and good ones to take inspiration from. Design professionals, students, and general lovers of design are all encouraged to attend.
Ario’s worked in UX since 2001 at companies like Microsoft, Real, Google, and now Amazon. He’s passionate about using design to promote greater human flourishing and well being. He also loves sushi, old video games, and menswear inspired womenswear.
