In this session, we will provide a short background on some data visualization theory and best practices. The core of the session will focus on in-person exercises with Tableau Desktop. This session is intended for people who are interested in working with Tableau, but have not had much experience working with it in the past. At the end of the session, participants will be equipped to connect to their own data, ask questions of it, and create dashboards to present the information to others.
Bring: Your laptop with Tableau Software installed: Tableau Desktop is free for students at: http://www.tableausoftware.com/academic/students.
Jason Schumacher runs the academic programs at Tableau Software, which are focused on providing free access to Tableau for any students who is interested. He spends most of his time at Tableau in a program management role, but most enjoys the opportunities to conduct trainings on Tableau and data visualization theory.
Tableau Software helps people see and understand data. Tableau helps anyone quickly analyze, visualize and share information. More than 13,500 customer accounts get rapid results with Tableau in the office and on-the-go. And tens of thousands of people use Tableau Public to share data in their blogs and websites.
