The Design Research Conference (DRC) is a student curated conference in it’s 12th year that brings together a large and expanding network of design professionals.
This year’s conference explores the forces of ego, empathy, technology, and humanity and aims to understand design’s role in mediating these forces: Are they opposable? Synthesized? Unified?
Practicing designers, artists, scientists, engineers, educators, and entrepreneurs will present a variety of perspectives on balancing multiple creative forces amidst complex systems and issues.
We are honored that speakers such as Anne Burdick (Chair, Media Practices, Art Center College of Design), Liz Danzico (School of Visual Arts),
Mickey McManus (CEO, MAYA), and Matt Jones and Richard The (Google Creative Lab).
The IIT Institute of Design was founded in 1937 as The New Bauhaus.
Today, ID is the largest full-time graduate-only design program in the U.S. with a curriculum centered on a methodological and human-centered approach to design and strategy.
The DRC will be held October 8-9, 2013 at the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois.
