HCSATS provides professional and community training on a variety of topics. We work closely with programs to develop highly relevant and evidence based training. Medical Professionals
 
 

We provide the following educational programs for medical professionals.  Refer to the calendar of scheduled conferences:

  •       Core Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training: This 5-day training provides didactic and practicum experience for nurses to become sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs). The training meets the requirements of the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
  •       Regional CORE Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training: This 2 or 3 day training is available for programs around the state interested in collaborating with HCSATS trainers to provide training to local nurses, upon request.
  •       Advanced SANE training: 1 day training for new and experienced SANE examiners.
  •       Northwest Child Maltreatment Peer Review: Advanced training for medical professionals who provide consultation on child physical and sexual abuse.
  •       Clinical mentorship and case review
  •       Individualized training for programs with specific training requests.

Mental Health Professionals
 
 

Evidence Based Training: Therapeutic interventions for sexual assault and trauma; psychosocial evaluation of suspected sexual assault and trauma; evaluation and treatment of young children with sexual behavior problems;  investigation and forensic interviewing of suspected sexual assault; dynamics and impact of sexual assault; Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT); mandated reporting: Identifying concerns and handling reports of child maltreatment; health and permanency needs of children in foster care; and technical assistance, case review and consultation.

CPS / Law Enforcement
 
 

Professional training to CPS workers, child interviewers, law enforcement professionals:

These training courses are provided through funding from the Department of Social and Health Services and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. Refer to the calendar of scheduled conferences. We also provide individualized training's for programs with specific training requests.
