Faculty And Planning Committee Disclosure Information
It is the policy of the University of Washington School of Nursing to
ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in all
of its educational offerings. Speakers, authors, and planning committee
members are required to disclose any financial or other relationships with
a proprietary entity producing health care goods or services. Conflict
of interest develops when an individual has an opportunity to affect educational
content about the products or services of a commercial interest with which
the individual has a financial relationship. The intent of this policy
is to openly identify any such relationships so that a) UW Continuing Nursing
Education can identify conflicts of interest which may have been created
and b) learners can form their own opinions as to whether content reflects
possible bias in exposition or conclusion. Speakers and authors are also
required to disclose to participants when discussing off-label use of a
product for a purpose other than that for which it was approved by the
Food and Drug Administration.
