Study Title:
Cervical T‐Cell Response to Herpes Simplex Virus

Study Description:
The purpose of this study is to learn more about a person’s immune response to herpes simplex virus (HSV). The cervix, which connects the uterus to the vagina, is one common site of herpes infection. This study will focus on the cells of the immune system, which travel to the cervix and help fight infection. Participants will be evaluated for study entry at a Screening Visit. This visit will involve a blood test for
HSV and HIV. The study will last up to 60 days and include blood draws, daily home genital swab collection, and speculum exams for the collection of cervical samples.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Women 18 years of age or older
  • HSV‐2 seropositive

Exclusions (conditions which would prevent a volunteer from participating in this study):

  • HIV positive
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

Compensation:
Participants will be compensated $25 for the Screening Visit, $50 for each study visit, and $100 per month for collection of daily home swab samples.
