Microbial Dynamics in the Human Vagina

Study Description:
The purpose of this study is to understand more about the bacteria that cause BV and what factors might make a women more likely to get BV.
The study will last 8 weeks (2 months) with clinic visits every 2 weeks. Participants will be asked to collect swab samples from home 3 times per day (morning, mid‐day and bedtime) for the entire study as well as keep a swab and symptom diary. Some clinic visits will involve blood draws and speculum exams for the collection of vaginal samples.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Women 18 years of age or older
- History of BV recurrences
Exclusions (conditions which would prevent a volunteer from participating in this study):
- HIV positive
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Presence of an IUD

Compensation:
Participants will be compensated up to $500 for completion of the study.
