Shingrix Vaccination and Immune Response

The University of Washington is seeking volunteers for a Shingles Vaccine Study.  The purpose of this study is to learn more about the body’s immune response to the FDA-approved Shingles vaccine. 

The study will last for up to one year and involve 9 clinic visits.  Participants will undergo a Screening Visit to see whether they are eligible.  Study procedures will include large volume blood draws, skin biopsies, and vaccination with the FDA-approved Shingles vaccine. 

To be eligible for the study you must:

  • Be between 30-40 years of age or 60 years of age or older [This was recently changed from 70+ to 60+]
  • Have not received the shingles vaccine

Conditions which would prevent you from participating in this study:

  • HIV positive
  • Currently pregnant or breastfeeding

Compensation:

Participants will be compensated $1100 for the entire study.

Clinic Location:

Our clinic is located on the 11th floor of the Ninth and Jefferson Building at Harborview Medical Center and open Monday through Friday.
