Smoking Cessation Program

Director of Health Promotion Mark Shaw has established a unique smoking cessation program that involves:

  • monitoring of your current smoking behavior,
  • identifying environmental factors that influence smoking,
  • setting goals for when to quit (perhaps by cutting down to start with),
  • identifying rewards for meeting your goals,
  • finding alternatives to smoking (replacing 'what it does for you'), and
  • maintaining the changes you have made.

Even if you've tried to quit smoking before and not succeeded, this method will give you some new strategies for 'giving it up.'

Cost for the program is free for UW students (subsidized via the Services and Activity Fee), $200 for staff, faculty, and others.  The program covers up to five 1-on-1 meetings or group discussion sessions.
