New Post-travel Clinic Announced

Beginning July 2009, HHPCC will offer a specialty clinic designed for persons with recent travel who are ill and concerned about having a non-urgent travel-related illness. 

Clinic Hours

The clinic will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.   

How to Make an Appointment

Patients are able to self refer by calling the Patient Services Center at (206) 616-2495 to schedule an appointment.

About Dr. Sanford

We are privileged to have Dr. Christopher Sanford staffing this clinic as he has extensive experience in travelers’ health.  He studied tropical medicine in Lima, Peru, and has volunteered in the Peruvian Amazon.  Since 2000 he has been Co-Director of the University of Washington Travel Clinic at Hall Health Center.  He is also faculty for the UWMC Family Medicine Residency Program.  

His accomplishments include publication of multiple articles and textbook chapters on topics related to travel and tropical medicine.  His layman's guide to travel health, The Adventurous Traveler's Guide to Health, was recently published by University of Washington Press. He is the co-editor, with Dr. Elaine Jong, of the Travel and Tropical Medicine Manual, recently revised in 2008. 

Dr. Sanford is board-certified in family medicine, has a Master of Public Health from Harvard, and has a Certificate of Knowledge in Clinical Tropical Medicine & Travelers' Health from the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene.

Urgent Need?

Post travel patients with urgent needs are encouraged to ask to be seen by one of the HHPCC providers with experience in travel medicine.  These patients will most likely be able to have an initial urgent visit to evaluate for serious disease they may be referred if needed to be seen by Dr. Sanford.

HHPCC continues to have a pre-travel clinic Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Appointments can be made by calling 206-616-2495.
