Camp: Areas of Graduate Study
Students may prepare a field in the Nineteenth Century, including the
social and cultural history of the development of racial and gender ideologies,
and of the workings, intersections and meanings of these ideologies as
they change over time and in different contexts. It is also possible to
pursue a field in the social and cultural history of Africans and black
people in America, from the slave trade to the present, with speical emphasis
on American slavery (including an Atlantic World context), women, issues
or resistance, and recent developments in critical race theory.
