Figure
9. Clinical Efficacy of Early Versus Deferred Initiation of HAART

This study involved asymptomatic patients with a CD4 count greater than 350 cells/mm3 who initiated antiretroviral therapy between January 1996 and December 1999. Treated patients (n = 283) were compared with matched patients (n = 283) who had treatment deferred for 12 months. This figure is based on data from Opravil M, Ledergerber B, Furrer H, et al. Clinical efficacy of early initiation of HAART in patients with asymptomatic HIV infection and CD4 cell count > 350 x 10(6)/l. AIDS. 2002;16:1371-81.
