After the Didanosine (Videx) EC Capsule is swallowed and enters the stomach, the outer capsule dissolves, but the enteric coating that surrounds the beadlets serves to protect the Didanosine from degradation by stomach acid. As the beadlets pass into the upper small intestine, the enteric coating around the beadlets dissolves and the active ingredient, Didanosine, is then absorbed.
