Figure 4. Cytomegalovirus Retinitis, Brushfire Pattern
This retinal photograph taken from an AIDS patient with cytomegalovirus retinitis shows extensive retinitis in a brushfire pattern in the upper and right region of the image. In the area farthest to the upper right, retinal necrosis and atrophy have lead to retinal pigment epithelial change, as evident by the darkly pigmented appearance.
