Figure 7. Ganciclovir Implant Before and After Intraocular Insertion
The top part of the figure shows a ganciclovir sustained release implant; this implant contains ganciclovir embedded in a polymer-based system that slowly releases the drug. The bottom figure shows the implant following insertion into the vitreous chamber of the eye. The implant is inserted in the operating room and requires a simultaneous partial vitrectomy.
