Upon completing the module Oral Manifestations,
participants should be able to:
- Recognize the three most common manifestations of oral candidiasis
in HIV-infected persons.
- Discuss topical and systemic therapies for oral candidiasis.
- Identify the viral agent that has been most strongly associated
with oral hairy leukoplakia.
- Understand the general approach to the management of oral hairy
leukoplakia.
- Describe how aphthous lesions in HIV-infected patients can differ
from aphthous lesions in immunocompetent HIV-negative persons.
- List agents that have efficacy in the management of aphthous
lesions in HIV-infected persons.
- Identify risk factors associated with the development of fluconazole
(Diflucan)-resistant candidiasis.
- Discuss treatment options for patients with fluconazole-resistant
candidiasis.
