Upon completing the module Perinatal
Transmission, participants should be able to:
- Discuss recommendations for HIV testing of pregnant women.
- Understand appropriate strategies for use of antiretroviral
therapy in pregnant HIV-infected women.

in labor with no prior HIV testing.

- List 3 or more factors associated with increase risk of perinatal
HIV transmission.
- Summarize indications for cesarean section delivery in HIV-infected
pregnant women.
- Understand the approach to diagnosing HIV in a child born to
an HIV-infected mother.
- Describe recommendations for neonatal antiretroviral therapy.
