Angiogenesis is impaired in aging, which delays the repair of wounds and revascularization of ischemic tissues. Defecits in angiogenesis in aged tissues might also contribute to slowed growth of tumors in older hosts. Our laboratory uses vivo models, tissue explants, and cell culture, both in 2D and 3D matrices, to examine the mechanisms of impaired angiogenesis in aging. |
