Read a magazine this month
Whether you're doing serious horicultural research for a garden project, or just feel like sitting back in a comfortable chair looking at glorious photos of someone else's garden, with 600 publications to choose from (over 100 on display each month) we've got the right journals for the armchair gardener in you. We've just reorganized the compact shelving where we keep our back issues for easier access. Whenever you need the October 2014 issue of The Garden Gate or Pacific Horticulture from 2003, they'll be here for you.
Library presents fall family programs
We're celebrating our tenth year of story programs at the Miller Library with an extra event this month: in addition to the Apple Gala program on October 4, we invite families to join us for a Harvest Time story program Saturday, October 18, from 10:30 to 11:15 am. We'll read about pumpkins and winter squash. After the stories, use pastels to capture a close-up view of some beautiful vegetables.
Invasive plant resources on display
Following up on the University of Washington Botanic Gardens' recent successful conference on invasive species, the Miller Library is featuring resources for dealing with invasive plants. The display includes informative free booklets and invasive plant recognition cards from the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board, academic papers, and some of our best books and films on the subject.
