Gardening on the Internet

I'd love to get involved in an electronic conversation with other gardeners. How do I do it?

The Garden Web Forums claim to be the "largest community of gardeners on the Internet." Over 100 separate forums are available for you to present your views or ask for help from other e-gardeners. Subjects include types of plants, types of gardens and a wide variety of general topics including such things as Attracting Butterflies and Hydroponics. It's a bit tricky to know how to start, but there are detailed instructions to help you out.

Two other active community forums includes the youthful YouGrowGirl.com (not just for females!) and the HelpfulGardener.com. Both require free registration for posting a new message to the forum, but anyone can read the messages.

Some gardeners want to share their experiences and musings with the world. Luckily, the Internet makes that real easy. Blogs, short for "Web logs" are the modern form of keeping a garden journal. While many bloggers start off ambitious, with daily entries, most soon fizz out. But a few blogs persist and those are generally written by people with something interesting to say. Most blogs allow for reader comments that can lead to a conversation among regular readers.

Best of the Web is a list of gardening blogs with short annotations.

Best Gardening Blogs (and what I've learned from them) is a nice collection of gardening blogs read by a blogger who gardens!
