Edible Gardening Books Reviewed in Time for Spring Planting

Zero Mile book cover imageLibrarian Rebecca Alexander reviews new books on edible gardening, with an emphasis on the Northwest, in the Winter 2012 issue of the Arboretum Bulletin. Rebecca speculates that the surge in interest in edible gardening:

“may be a natural response to a troubled
economy, an industrialized food supply system
that is susceptible to contamination, or the
positive influence of Michelle Obama’s White
House kitchen garden.”

One Response to Edible Gardening Books Reviewed in Time for Spring Planting

  1. A very interesting article and i think Rebecca raises some very valid points. I think people are realising that they can grow superior vegetables at home compared to those offered by the big supermarket chains. Healthier, cheaper and tastier. Its a great way to go.
