Student Practicum

Students in Health Care and Population Health Research have diverse interests, but almost all are required to take a practicum experience to complete the MPH. Students at the University of Washington do their practica in local health departments, non-profit organizations, managed care settings and other workplaces. The objectives of such work in Health Care and Population Health Research are:
  • To provide public health agency experience
  • To give students the opportunity to work as teams with their peers from other disciplines in community organizations and in other non-academic settings
  • To allow students to contribute to existing community and public health partnerships to promote enhanced well-being in the community. Students should consult the Practicum Handbook and their faculty advisers for further information
