HPRC celebrates its 25th Anniversary!
At HPRC's 25th anniversary event on Sept. 16, 2011, we heard from keynote speaker Maxine Hayes, Washington State Health Officer, Howard Frumkin, Dean of the UW School of Public Health, and Larry Kessler, chair of the Department of Health Services. The fun and high-energy event was a testimony to HPRC's quarter of a century of research, goodwill, and action to improve the health of older adults.
Maxine Hayes, Washington State Health Officer, inspired us with her vision of HPRC's role in healthy aging for all older adults. In particular she recognized HPRC's strong collaboration with community partners, especially our work with DOH and other state agencies, and commended HPRC's many contributions to reducing health disparities.
Howard Frumkin, Dean of the UW School of Public Health, and Ed Wagner, former HPRC director. Dean Frumkin spoke briefly about HPRC's strength as research center in the School of Public Health and how well it fits in with the new initiatives the School is undertaking.
Senior Services vice president Kate Turpin, HPRC investigator Huong Nguyen, and CAB member Susan Snyder.
Larry Kessler and Jeff Harris, HPRC director. Dr. Kessler recognized the contributions made by the four former HPRC directors: Gil Omenn, Dave Buchner, Ed Wagner, and Jim LoGerfo.
We celebrated our history of research and accomplishments and caught up with old friends and community partners over a delicious breakfast.
CAB member Marilyn Guthrie, Jeff Harris, and Dr. Howard Frumkin.
CAB member Winona Hollins-Hauge introduced the Senior Sliders.
