Community
Advisory Board |

|
The CAB is a coalition of trial participants, concerned community members and
healthcare providers, and representatives of HIV service organizations that
"look out" for the interests of HPTU/HVTU study participants. They do this by assisting
in protocol review, community education and study recruitment.
Mission
The Seattle HIV Prevention and Vaccine Trials Units' Community Advisory
Board Mission
is to ensure that FHCRC/UW HIV prevention and vaccine studies are
responsive to the
needs and concerns of the communities from which study participants are recruited.
Objectives:
- Act as advocates for study participants addressing issues such as personal safety,
participants rights, informed consent, and confidentiality.
- Act as advisors to the staff and industry on study protocols.
- Assist staff with community education and recruitment strategies.
- Provide feedback and representation to the Global CABs and at other levels where
community representation is needed.
- Promote diversity in study recruitment.
