Jeff Faris
Pharmacist
As a pharmacist, my duties are split between research and clinical
responsibilities. I joined the Seattle HPTU Site in June 1998 to work
with Meredith Potochnic, my pharmacy partner. As a research pharmacist, I
am responsibile for any research protocols which involve vaccines or medications. I
prepare, administer or dispense, and maintain records for
all investigational drug products involved in our studies. My time is
divided among several different research groups including HIV Vaccine Trials Unit,
AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU), and the
Virology Research Unit.
In addition, I work as a clinical pharmacist at the Madison Clinic, an HIV
clinic located in Harborview Medical
Center. There my duties include
extensive patient education, and screening for drug interactions as well
as filling prescriptions.
I graduated from Idaho State University
in
May 1997
with a Doctor of
Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) and have since completed a one year
post-graduated residency in Pharmacy Practice at the University of
Washington and Harborview Medical Centers.
Not being a native to the Seattle area, I am learning to appreciate the
vast number of opportunities that exist in the area. I enjoy
rollerblading, reading, watching good movies, and eating fine food.
