Requirements for Choosing Project/Thesis Committee Members

The University of Washington Graduate School and the EXDP program have established minimum requirements for selecting Thesis or Project committees. The requirements for a thesis committee are slightly different that the requirements for project committee

• The committee chair must be a SPHCM faculty member who is already, or will become, approved for UW Graduate Faculty status.

• The committee must have at least two faculty members
• Regardless of the size of the committee, at least one half the members must be faculty who are already, or will become, approved for UW Grad Faculty Status.
• If appropriate, additional committee members may be chosen from outside the UW. (For instance, an employee at the site in which the research is conducted)
