Cultural Competency
Catalog Description:
Utilizing Terry Cross' conceptual framework for cultural competency, this day-long workshop will provide an introductory overview of the application of cultural competence to public health practice, organizational management, and research. This one-day workshop will involve experiential exercises, lecture, and small group discussions. The perspective is interdisciplinary and the methodological orientation is qualitative, historical and ethnographic. Additionally, community based participatory research [CBPR] will be presented as an example for conducting culturally competent research.
