I have the greatest respect for what program evaluation, especially outcome evaluation, can tell us about the effectiveness of our health programs for all population groups.

Bernadette Lalonde is an Adjunct Research Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and has been the Director for Research and Evaluation at the Center for Health Education and Research since 1991. Lalonde's focused area of scholarship is program evaluation and evaluation research, particularly in the arenas of quality assurance and outcome evaluation in the treatment of persons infected with HIV. Her reseach is funded by federal dollars. As research faculty, Lalonde serves on thesis committees but does not regularly teach in the classroom.

Projects
Alaska Targeted Provider Education Demonstration (TPED) Project
The Alaska TPED Project serves to build the capacity of health and social service providers in Alaska to support HIV-infected and high risk American Indians and Alaska Natives to get an HIV-test, to enter and stay in treatment, and to adhere to their HIV/AIDS care plan. Targeted are providers who are themselves American Indian or Alaska Native and/or serve a higher percentage of American Indians and Alaska Natives in Alaska.

University of Washingon Northwest AIDS Education and Training Center
The quality of HIV/AIDS care is achieved and maintained by a well educated health care workforce. The Northwest AIDS Education and Training Center (NW AETC) is one of fifteen national centers whose mission is to build capacity among health care providers to serve people living with HIV/AIDS. The NW AETC provides a full range of HIV/AIDS education and training to health care providers serving patients in the Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho and Oregon (WAMIO) region.
