Dr. Marlatt graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in psychology in 1964. He completed work for a PhD in clinical psychology at Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1968. Dr. Marlatt then accepted a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. In 1969, Dr. Marlatt was appointed Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin. Three years later he was appointed Associate Professor, Department of Psychology at the University of Washington and became Director of the Center for Psychological Services and Research. In 1976, Dr. Marlatt was promoted to Professor of Psychology. He is currently Director of the Addictive Behaviors Research Center.
