About

Preston M. Simmons, MHA, FACHE is the Chief Operating and Administrative Officer for the Providence Health and Services Western Washington Market. In this roles he has operational responsibility for the Providence NW and SW Regions of Providence consisting of 3 hospitals, 972 licensed beds and a network of ambulatory clinics and other related healthcare services. He also has shared services responsibilities for a variety of support functions for the $4.6B Western Washington Market inclusive of the Swedish Health System. Prior to his current role, Preston was the Regional Chief Executive Officer for the NW Washington Region of Providence. He joined Providence in 2007.

Other roles included being the Senior Associate Administrator at the University of Washington Medical Center. He served at the University of Washington Medical Center beginning in 1998. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer of a rural hospital in Page, Arizona as part of the Samaritan Health System and served in senior leadership roles at Stevens Hospital in Edmonds and Ballard Community Hospital in Seattle.

Preston has a master's degree in health administration from the University of Washington and is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Services, School of Public Health and Community Medicine. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in many professional and community organizations including being on the Boards of the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County, University of Washington Bothell, The Washington State Hospital Association, The Snohomish County Health Leadership Coalition and a member of the Governors Health Innovation Leadership Network.
