MPH/MS Application Process

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

A limited amount of financial aid is available. Since we have limited funds, we encourage applicants to seek outside resources to cover anticipated expenses for the academic year. Applicants can check with the specific tracks to which they are applying for more specific information about the aid which may be available to its students.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used by the University of Washington in making its financial aid awards to students who are United States citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Most typically, our graduate students qualify for educational loans or for work-study. A few academically outstanding and financially needy under-represented students may also qualify for other forms of aid, such as partial tuition waivers. For priority consideration, applicants should submit the FAFSA before February 28. The FAFSA becomes available in mid-December, and can be obtained by calling 206-543-6101 or writing to:

University of Washington
Office of Student Financial Aid
105 Schmitz Hall, Box 355880
Seattle, WA 98195

Applicants can also complete the FAFSA electronically. The address is: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

Research assistant positions (and a few teaching assistant positions) are sometimes available, especially as students progress in their studies. These do not typically require financial need as established by submitting the FAFSA.

Students typically enroll 3 quarters per year for these 2-year programs. Specific information about tuition costs is available at:
Tier II Graduate Student Tuition Information

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS AND FINANCIAL AID

The University of Washington requires that international applicants be able to certify their financial ability before they can be admitted to the Graduate School. The total anticipated cost for each year of study is currently around $40,000. This is likely to continue to increase. Unfortunately, the Department of Health Services very seldom has assistance available for international students. Information can can also be requested by email from: intlgrad@u.washington.edu
