Make your own guided imagery tape!

Scientific research has documented the power or imagery (sometimes called "visualization") for helping athletes learn new skills, improve mental preparation, increase self-confidence, aid recovery from injury, and reduce losses in performance caused my time-loss injuries. In a recent survery, 99% of Olympic athletes reported using imagery as part of their mental preparation and performance routines. HSPS has the ability to help you create your own personalized imagery tape, complete with narration (in your own voice and words) and your choice of music.

How to make your own imagery tape:

  1. Download, print, and read this worksheet to help you write your script and prepare to make the tape.
  2. Contact an HSPS staff consultant and make an appointment to make your tape. Bring your worksheet and music, plus a blank cassette tape (or buy one from us for $1). It usually takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete the process.
