Welcome to Health Sciences Risk Management

Health Sciences Risk Management is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and carrying out programs to control the clinical risks associated with patient care services to which the University is exposed. Our department serves UW Medicine facilities (including UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Hall Health, UWPN Neighborhood Clinics and Sports Medicine), and the health sciences schools. Review by Health Sciences Risk Management is important whenever an event, activity or program in these areas may involve a significant risk of patient harm.

Health Sciences Risk Management manages patient complaints regarding patient harm and coordinates with the Office of Risk Management as necessary regarding medical or dental professional liability claims and lawsuits. We have offices in the Health Sciences Center and at Harborview Medical Center in the Pat Steele Building. Our services include:

1. Identification and Management of Clinical Risks in coordination with Quality Improvement staff
2. Patient Complaint Management in coordination with Patient Relations staff

4. System Owner/Operator for RiskMaster.net
