The 2001 Basic Prize in History of Science

The Basic Prize is intended to encourage young scholars and to communicate the importance and interest of the subject to an intelligent general readership.

Eligibility: The Prize is open to any new scholar in the fields of:

* History of Science
*History of Technology
*History of Medicine.

The Prize will consist of publication by Basic Books; a $7,500 advance against royalties; and a $1,000 stipend for travel to the annual convention of the History of Science Society.

Guidelines for Submission: All manuscripts must be received by June 1, 2001. Submit two (2) copies of the manuscript, one to Basic Books and one to any one judge listed below. The Prize will be announced at the 2001 HSS meeting, Denver, CO, November 7-11, 2001.
