Canadian Studies Grant Programs

The Canadian Government provides support for teaching, research, conferences and program activities that further the knowledge and understanding of Canada in the United States. We are particularly interested in projects that focus on the diverse aspects of Canada-U.S. relations. Priority topics include bilateral trade, Canada-U.S. border issues, security cooperation, environmental and natural resources issues, and cultural relations. In addition, projects that examine Canadian politics, economics, culture, and society as well as Canada's role in international affairs are welcome.

In the past year, the Canadian Studies Grant Program provided support to faculty, researchers, and graduate students at 68 universities, colleges, and institutions in 31 states. Ninety-five projects were funded on a wide range of topics and in many disciplines.

Over the past twenty-five years, the Canadian Government has helped foster the development of Canadian Studies in the United States. There are now more than fifty Canadian Studies programs across the country and roughly 500 U.S. universities and colleges that offer courses on Canada.

Other grant opportunities for Canadian Studies are available from the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program, the Association for Canadian Studies in the United States, and the International Council for Canadian Studies. Other Grant Opportunities for Canadian Students
